  1. Central Region The middle and south, with Kampala, the capital.

  3. Eastern Region The east, along the border with Kenya.
  4. Northern Region The whole north, up to South Sudan.

How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01. The four regions (Central, Eastern, Northern, Western) are today's: the count and every name were compared on 2026-10-01 with the country profile of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, which counts its administrative units by these four regions (https://www.ubos.org/uganda-profile/, page dated 30 September 2026), with the list of ISO 3166-2 codes for Uganda as Wikipedia prints it (four geographical regions, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:UG) and with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regions_of_Uganda. Each region is put together from the district shapes of Natural Earth by the source's own region field. No district is drawn or asked: the source has the 112 districts of about 2010 and Uganda has well over 130 today. Every district of the source that today's ISO list still names is filed under the same region there, so the region outlines are today's. Lake Victoria, Lake Albert, Lake Edward, Lake Kyoga and Lake Kwania are cut out of the land as open water; the rivers layer is the Victoria Nile and the Albert Nile. No capital star is drawn: regions have no capitals. Kenya and South Sudan are drawn as one piece of land without the line between them, which starts at Uganda's corner and is in dispute; no disputed area lies in the frame and Uganda's outline depends on none. How it works

This blank map of Uganda opens on the plain outline of the country and its lakes, with the neighboring countries as plain land around it. Two switches add the four regions and the Nile.

Outline and lakes first

The sheet opens on the outline of Uganda with its large lakes: Lake Victoria along the south, Lake Albert and Lake Edward on the western border, and Lake Kyoga in the middle. Press Print this map for a sheet to draw districts or towns on.

Regions and the Nile

Borders adds the lines between the four regions. Rivers adds the Nile, from Lake Victoria through Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert to the northern border. Numbered and Named label the four regions.

  • The straight lines across Lake Victoria are borders, not shores: Uganda shares the lake with Kenya and Tanzania.

Questions and answers

How many regions does Uganda have?

Four: Central, Eastern, Northern and Western. They group the districts and are used for statistics. The national government works with the districts directly.

Why are the districts not on the map?

Uganda has more than 130 districts, and many are newer than the map source, so its district lines are out of date. The sheet shows the four regions instead.

What is the capital of Uganda?

Kampala, in the Central Region, near the shore of Lake Victoria. The map does not mark it.

Which countries border Uganda?

Kenya to the east, South Sudan to the north, the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the west, Rwanda to the southwest and Tanzania to the south. Uganda has no coast.
