Along the top
From the head back: the poll, the withers over the shoulders, then the chine, the loin, the hip and the rump down to the tail. The thurl, the hip joint, sits on the side of the rump.
Body and legs
The barrel is the round middle. The chest floor runs under the chest, the flank is in front of the hind leg and the udder hangs between the hind legs. Each foot has a pastern, a split hoof and two dewclaws behind.
- The chine and the thurl are the two names a goat page adds to a cow's: learn those first, then the chest floor and the dewclaws, which sit low and are easy to miss.
