Blank, numbered or named
The sheet opens blank. Choose Numbered to put a number on each of the 28 districts, or Named for their names, then press Print this map; the answer key prints on its own sheet.
Three regions and a lake
The Northern Region has 6 districts, the Central Region 9 and the Southern Region 13, where the shapes are smallest. Mzimba, in the north, is the largest district. Likoma, the smallest, lies in the lake near the far shore and carries a ring.
- Give each group one region to label: the quiz can also ask the Northern, Central or Southern Region alone.
Questions and answers
How many districts does Malawi have?
Twenty-eight, in three regions: 6 in the Northern Region, 9 in the Central Region and 13 in the Southern Region. All 28 are numbered on this map.
Which countries border Malawi?
Zambia to the west, Tanzania to the north and northeast, and Mozambique to the east, south and southwest. They are drawn as plain land without names.
Is Lake Malawi on the map?
Yes, as open water along the east side of the country, with no number. Some borders on this map are disputed: Malawi and Tanzania disagree about the border on the lake, so no border line is drawn on the water. Tanzania calls it Lake Nyasa.
