Three sets
Name the state lists the neighbors and asks for the state, once for each of the 48 states that touch another. Which one touches it? names a state and offers four. How many? asks for counts.
Pick an answer
Press a choice and it is marked at once. The note under it lists every neighboring state in alphabetical order. A round is ten questions; the Start from menu under the question holds the sets, and a set of 40 or fewer plays as one round.
On paper
After a round, print a 10-question sheet with its answer key, or the whole set. See all with answers opens every question and answer.
- A corner or open water does not count here: Arizona and Colorado meet only at the Four Corners point.
Questions and answers
Which state borders the most other states?
Missouri and Tennessee border eight states each, more than any other state. Kentucky comes next with seven neighboring states.
Which state borders only one other state?
Maine, which borders only New Hampshire. Alaska and Hawaii border no state at all.
Which states touch at the Four Corners?
Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah meet at one point. This quiz counts a shared line as a border, so Arizona and Colorado, and New Mexico and Utah, are not asked as neighbors.
Which states border no other state?
Alaska and Hawaii. The other 48 are the contiguous states, and each of them touches at least one other state.
Can I print the bordering states quiz?
Yes. Finish a round of ten, then press Print: the list holds those ten, its last row adds more, and a tick on With answer key prints the key.
