Eight sets, ten at a time
Tap a choice to see it marked. A round is ten questions from all eight sets; pick one set, such as State nicknames, to stay on it. These us state trivia questions run from easy (which state is the Sunshine State?) to hard (which state's bird is the California gull?).
For a class or a quiz night
Print a ten-question sheet with its key, or the whole set. The list under the quiz holds all the 50 states trivia questions and answers, ready to read aloud as united states geography questions.
How the facts were checked
The questions are built from tables read on one day. Highest points were also matched against a U.S. Geological Survey list.
- The largest city is not the capital in 33 states, so that set catches most people.
Questions and answers
Do these us state trivia questions and answers print?
Yes. After a round, Print lists its ten questions; add more, and tick With answer key for a key on its own page. To save a PDF, choose Save as PDF in the print window.
What are some good trivia questions about states?
Which state borders only one other state? (Maine.) Which state's highest point is Mount Washington? (New Hampshire, not Washington.) Which bird have seven states as state bird? (The northern cardinal.) All three are in the quiz.
Which state was the first, and which was the last?
Delaware ratified the Constitution first, on December 7, 1787. Hawaii was the 50th, on August 21, 1959, the same year Alaska became the 49th.
Why are there no capital questions?
The capitals have pages of their own: a map quiz and a printable worksheet. This quiz asks the largest city instead, and only in the 33 states where it is not the capital.
