Each quiz here takes one region of the United States and draws it on a map of its own, larger than a whole-country map can show it, so the small states of the East Coast are shapes you can tap. In Find it you get a name and tap the state.

More about these tools

In Name it a state lights up and you choose or type its name. Study shows every name with a line about the state. Missed states come back at the end, and every map prints blank or labeled.

The Northeast, Midwest, South and West pages follow the four regions of the U.S. Census Bureau: 9, 12, 16 and 13 states, which add up to all 50. School lists differ, so each page says which list it uses. The Southeast page asks the 16 states of the Census South, and two buttons cut the round to the 14 state or 12 state Southeast that some school lists use. New England is a round on the Northeast map. The Southwest page opens on Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma, and the eastern states have their own quiz.
