How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01; ids, points and accepted spellings are Natural Earth's. THE DRAWING IS DATED: it has seven provinces, and Equatorial Guinea has eight today. The count and every name were compared on 2026-10-01 with the list of ISO 3166-2 codes for Equatorial Guinea as Wikipedia prints it (eight provinces, GQ-DJ added on 2020-11-24, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:GQ), with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provinces_of_Equatorial_Guinea and with http://www.statoids.com/ugq.html: the eighth province, Djibloho, was split from Wele-Nzas. The page numbers and asks the six provinces that were not changed (Annobón, Bioko Norte, Bioko Sur, Centro Sur, Kié-Ntem, Litoral); the shape of Wele-Nzas as it was before is in this file for the drawing and is never asked. Annobón is drawn in an inset at four times the scale of the main map. No disputed area lies in the frame of the drawing. How it works

This blank map of Equatorial Guinea opens on the plain outline: the mainland between Cameroon and Gabon, the island of Bioko, and Annobón in a box. Switch Borders on for the province lines of before Djibloho, the newest province.

Outline first

The sheet opens with nothing inside the outline. Press Print this map for a sheet to mark cities or rivers on. Annobón, a small island far out in the Gulf of Guinea, is drawn in a box, larger than the rest of the map.

Why six provinces have numbers

Borders adds the province lines as they ran before Djibloho was split from Wele-Nzas. Numbered and Named label the six provinces whose borders are still today’s: Annobón, Bioko Norte, Bioko Sur, Centro Sur, Kié-Ntem and Litoral. The area of Wele-Nzas stays unlabeled.

  • Malabo, the capital until 2026, is on the north coast of Bioko: have students mark it on the plain outline.

Questions and answers

How many provinces does Equatorial Guinea have?

Eight. Annobón, Bioko Norte and Bioko Sur are islands or parts of one. Centro Sur, Djibloho, Kié-Ntem, Litoral and Wele-Nzas are on the mainland. This map draws seven of them, without Djibloho.

What is the capital of Equatorial Guinea?

Ciudad de la Paz, in the province of Djibloho on the mainland. A decree of January 2, 2026 declared it the capital. Malabo, on the north coast of Bioko, was the capital before it. The map marks no cities.

Why is Annobón in a box?

Annobón lies far to the southwest of the rest of the country, with São Tomé and Príncipe between it and Bioko. The box brings it onto the sheet, drawn larger than the rest of the map.

Which countries border Equatorial Guinea?

Cameroon to the north of the mainland and Gabon to the south and east. Both are drawn as plain land without names.

Where is Bioko on the map?

At the top left, off the coast of Cameroon. With Borders on it shows as two provinces, Bioko Norte and Bioko Sur. Malabo is on its north coast.
