How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01; ids, points, capitals and accepted spellings are Natural Earth's. THE DRAWING IS DATED: it has the ten regions Ghana had until 2018, not today's 16. The page numbers and asks only the six regions that were not changed when four others were split (Ashanti, Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Upper East, Upper West); the four shapes of the former Brong-Ahafo, Northern, Volta and Western regions are in this file for the drawing and are never asked. The six names, their capitals (Kumasi, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Accra, Bolgatanga, Wa), the count of 16 regions and the table of former and new regions were read on 2026-10-01 at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regions_of_Ghana, which agrees with the points file on all of them. How it works

This Ghana outline map opens on the plain outline of the country, with Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Togo as plain land around it. Two switches add region borders and regional capitals.

Outline first

The sheet opens with nothing inside the outline. Press Print this map for a sheet to draw rivers, cities or the 16 regions on. Borders adds region lines and Capitals adds a star for each capital that is named.

Why six regions have numbers

The borders are those of the ten regions Ghana had until 2018. Six of them are unchanged today, and Numbered and Named label those six: Ashanti, Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Upper East and Upper West. The other four areas were split and stay unlabeled.

  • To finish the map by hand, have students draw the missing lines: the old Northern area is now Northern, Savannah and North East.

Questions and answers

How many regions does Ghana have?

Sixteen. After a referendum in December 2018, four of the ten older regions were split: Brong-Ahafo, Northern, Volta and Western became ten regions between them. The other six kept their borders.

What is the capital of Ghana?

Accra, on the coast in the Greater Accra Region, the smallest region on the map. Switch Capitals on to see it marked with a star.

Is Lake Volta on the map?

No. The map has the outline of the country and the region borders, which run across the lake, but the lake itself is not drawn.
