How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01 from the points file that this site's map generator wrote with the drawing; ids, points and accepted spellings are Natural Earth's, as the points file records them, with English labels set by the spec. The 16 items are the voivodeships of Poland, today's first-level units since 1 January 1999. The count and the date were read on 2026-10-01 at Statistics Poland (https://stat.gov.pl/en/regional-statistics/classification-of-territorial-units/administrative-division-of-poland/: the division introduced on 1 January 1999 included 16 voivodships). The count and every name were compared on 2026-10-01 with ISO 3166-2:PL as Wikipedia prints it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:PL: 16 voivodships, Polish and English names) and with the table 'Polish voivodeships since 1999' at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voivodeships_of_Poland (English name, Polish name, area); all 16 agree. The ids are the letter codes of the source (PL-DS); ISO 3166-2 now uses two-digit codes for the same units. How it works

This blank map of Poland prints the country with its 16 voivodeships, from West Pomeranian on the Baltic coast to Lesser Poland in the south. Switch Borders off for the outline, or Rivers on for the Vistula and the Oder.

A Poland outline map with rivers

Two switches sit over the map. Borders removes the lines between the voivodeships and leaves the outline of the country. Rivers adds the Vistula, the Oder, the Warta and the Bug. Turn Rivers on and Borders off for a map to mark cities on.

The voivodeships, numbered or named

Numbered and Named put a number or a name on all 16 voivodeships. Masovian is the largest shape and Opole the smallest. Names are in English: Lesser Poland for Małopolskie, Silesian for Śląskie, Holy Cross for Świętokrzyskie.

  • Start in the north: West Pomeranian and Pomeranian lie on the Baltic coast. Then work south to the mountains along the border.

Questions and answers

How many voivodeships does Poland have?

Sixteen, since a reform that took effect on 1 January 1999. A voivodeship is a province of Poland. All sixteen are numbered on this map.

Which countries border Poland?

Germany to the west, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Ukraine and Belarus to the east, and Lithuania and Russia's Kaliningrad region to the northeast. They are drawn as plain land around the outline, without names.

Can I print Poland without the voivodeship lines?

Yes. Switch Borders off and the sheet prints the outline of the country alone. Switch Rivers on to add the four rivers.

Which is the largest voivodeship of Poland?

Masovian, which holds the capital, Warsaw. Opole, in the southwest, is the smallest.
