How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01 from the drawing's own list of shapes; ids and points are Natural Earth's. The six regions and the city of Minsk are today's units: the count and every name were compared on 2026-10-01 with the official website of the Republic of Belarus, which lists Minsk city and the Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Minsk and Mogilev regions (https://www.belarus.by/en/about-belarus/geography), with the list of ISO 3166-2 codes for Belarus as Wikipedia prints it (six oblasts and one city, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:BY) and with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regions_of_Belarus. Labels are the Russian-based English names those pages use; the Belarusian-based spellings are accepted answers. No disputed area lies in the frame of the drawing. Blank, numbered or named

The sheet opens blank. Choose Numbered to put a number on each of the six regions and on Minsk, or Named for their names, then press Print this map; the answer key prints on its own sheet.

Regions named for cities

Each region carries the name of its main city: Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Minsk, Mogilev and Vitebsk. The city of Minsk is the small shape in the middle of Minsk Region, with a number of its own. Gomel, in the southeast, is the largest region; Grodno, in the west, is the smallest.

  • Belarusian spellings count in the quiz: Homyel for Gomel, Hrodna for Grodno, Mahilyow for Mogilev and Vitsebsk for Vitebsk.

Questions and answers

How many regions does Belarus have?

Six: Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Minsk, Mogilev and Vitebsk. The capital, Minsk, is a city with the same standing as a region, so the map has seven shapes.

Which countries border Belarus?

Poland to the west, Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest, Russia to the east and northeast, and Ukraine to the south. Belarus has no coast. The neighbors are drawn as plain land without names.

Is Minsk part of Minsk Region?

No. Minsk city, as the capital, has a special status and is governed apart from the region around it, though it is also where the region is run from. On the map it is a small shape inside the region.

Can I print Belarus without the region lines?

Yes. Switch Borders off and the sheet prints the outline of the country alone.
