A sheet to draw on
The Himalayas fill the north of the country, toward China, and subtropical plains lie in the south, toward India. Have students shade the two belts and write Thimphu beside its dot.
What the map draws
India also shows at the left and right edges of the sheet, past the two ends of Bhutan. Both neighbors are drawn lightly and carry no numbers, and the inside of Bhutan is left empty.
- On the Numbered sheet Bhutan is 1 and Thimphu, the dot in the west, is 2.
Questions and answers
Which countries border Bhutan?
Two: China on the north and northwest, India on the south and southeast. Bhutan has no coast. On this map both neighbors are drawn lightly, without numbers.
What is the capital of Bhutan?
Thimphu, in the west of the country. On this map it is the dot inside Bhutan.
How many districts does Bhutan have?
Twenty, called dzongkhags. This sheet does not draw them, because the map source's district lines do not match today's.
Are any borders on this map disputed?
Some borders on this map are disputed. The map follows Natural Earth, a public-domain map source, and does not take a side. The border between Bhutan and China is partly disputed, and so is the line between India and China east of Bhutan.
