How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01 from the drawing's own list of shapes; ids and points are Natural Earth's. The ten provinces and the city of Yerevan are today's units: the count and every name were compared on 2026-10-01 with the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, which lists Yerevan city and the ten marzes (https://armstat.am/en/?nid=51), with the list of ISO 3166-2 codes for Armenia as Wikipedia prints it (one city and ten regions, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:AM) and with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_divisions_of_Armenia. The outline is Natural Earth's: on the border with Azerbaijan it draws the exclave of Artsvashen as part of Gegharkunik and two exclaves of Azerbaijan as gaps in Tavush. Read again on 2026-10-03: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_divisions_of_Armenia (ten provinces and one city with special status), the lead of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Sevan and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artsvashen. The outline of the drawing was laid over that Natural Earth file on 2026-10-03: the two cover the same area. Across the north

Shirak, Lori and Tavush line the north from west to east, each on the border with Georgia. Armavir, on the Turkish border in the west, is the smallest of the ten provinces.

A lake, a city and a long south

Lake Sevan, the largest lake in Armenia, lies inside Gegharkunik, the largest province. Yerevan is the small shape in the west, where Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Ararat and Armavir meet. Syunik is the long province in the far south, on the way to Iran.

  • The Numbered sheet runs in alphabetical order, from Aragatsotn at 1 to Vayots Dzor at 10; Yerevan is 11.

Questions and answers

How many provinces does Armenia have?

Ten: Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Lori, Shirak, Syunik, Tavush and Vayots Dzor. The capital, Yerevan, is a city with a special status of its own, so the map has eleven shapes.

Which countries border Armenia?

Georgia (north), Azerbaijan (east), Iran (south) and Turkey (west). Nakhchivan, a separate part of Azerbaijan, also lies to the south. The neighbors are drawn as plain land without names.

Why are there small pieces cut off from the outline?

Some borders on this map are disputed. The map follows Natural Earth, a public-domain map source, and does not take a side. It draws Artsvashen, held by Azerbaijan since 1992, with Armenia, and two pieces drawn with Azerbaijan as gaps in Tavush.

Can I print Armenia without the province lines?

Yes. Switch Borders off and the sheet prints the outline of the country alone.
