How it works
This countries without vowels quiz takes a, e, i, o and u out of the names of the United Nations member states and leaves the rest: BRZL, JPN, KNY. The four choices are countries whose leftover letters look most alike.

Pick the country
Read the letters and tap a country. The answer shows at once, with the vowels that went and what the other three choices would have left. A round is ten names.
Three sets by length
Names that keep six letters or more are the easy start, four or five is harder, and two or three, such as RN, MN and PR, is the hardest. The Start from menu under the question stays on one set.
Print it
After a round, Print lists its questions: add more, tick With answer key, and the key prints on the last page. The list under the quiz holds every name with its answer.
- The letter y stays, so Egypt is GYPT and Kenya is KNY.
- Spaces stay too: NW ZLND is two words.
Questions and answers
Is there a country with no vowels in its name?
No. Every name in this quiz has at least one of a, e, i, o or u. Chad, Cyprus, Egypt and Kyrgyzstan have just one each, so they lose a single letter: CHD, CYPRS, GYPT and KYRGYZSTN.
Which countries look the same without vowels?
Two pairs. Armenia and Romania both leave RMN, and Niger and Nigeria both leave NGR. A clue with two right answers is not fair, so those four names are not asked.
Does y count as a vowel in this quiz?
No. Only a, e, i, o and u are removed, so y stays in GYPT (Egypt), KNY (Kenya) and GRMNY (Germany).
Which country names are shortest without vowels?
Fifteen names keep just two letters: Cuba (CB), Fiji (FJ), Guinea (GN), Haiti (HT), India (ND), Iran (RN), Iraq (RQ), Laos (LS), Mali (ML), Nauru (NR), Oman (MN), Palau (PL), Peru (PR), Samoa (SM) and Togo (TG).
Can I print the quiz with answers?
Yes. Finish a round, then press Print and tick With answer key: the key prints on the last page. To save a PDF, choose Save as PDF in the print window.
