Print the sheet
Press Print this worksheet for the label the family members worksheet on paper: the numbered tree with a line for each word. The switch under the picture changes it to Blank or Named.
Read the lines
A short line between two people joins a couple. A line down leads to their children. Me, the sister, the brother and the baby hang from one line, so they have the same parents.
Check the answers
Print the answer key lists each word beside its number. Quiz yourself on this worksheet lights one picture at a time and offers four words.
- Numbers 11 and 12 are the dashed loops. Each loop names two people at once: the parents, and the grandparents.
- An uncle or an aunt can be on either side of the family. This uncle is the mother's brother.
Questions and answers
Who are the members of a family?
On this sheet: a mother and a father, their four children (a sister, a brother, a baby and Me), a grandfather and a grandmother, an uncle, an aunt and a cousin. It is one made-up family; real families come in many shapes.
Who is my cousin?
A cousin is the child of your aunt or uncle. On the tree the cousin hangs from the line that joins the uncle and the aunt.
Who are my aunt and uncle?
An uncle is the brother of your mother or father, or the husband of your aunt. An aunt is the sister of your mother or father, or the wife of your uncle.
What is a family tree?
A drawing that shows the members of a family and how they are related. On this one the grandparents are at the top and the children at the bottom, joined by lines.
Is it mom or mum?
Both mean mother. Mom is the American word and mum the British one. The quiz takes either, and dad, grandma, grandpa and granny too.
