From the cap to the counter
The jar holds the food; it is glass, plastic or stainless steel. The lid covers it, and the filler cap in the lid lifts out. The spout on the rim pours and the handle lifts the jar. The jar stands on the motor base, where the control panel sets the speed.
Under the jar
The blade assembly closes the bottom of the jar. A gasket seals the joint, and the collar screws on to hold both in place. Inside the base, an electric motor turns the blades.
- Gasket, blade assembly, collar: that is the order they go onto the bottom of the jar.
Questions and answers
What are the parts of a blender called?
From the top: the filler cap, the lid, the jar with its spout and handle, the gasket, the blade assembly, the collar, and the motor base with its control panel. The motor is inside the base.
What is the rubber ring on a blender called?
The gasket. Some makers call it the sealing ring. It sits between the jar and the blade assembly and seals the joint, so the jar does not leak.
What is the bottom part of a blender called?
The ring that screws onto the bottom of the jar is the collar. It holds the blade assembly in place. The block the jar stands on is the motor base.
What is the cap in a blender lid for?
The filler cap lifts out so ingredients can go in while the blender runs. On some blenders it also works as a small measuring cup.
