Around the outline
The Atlantic Ocean is to the north. Venezuela lies to the west, beside Barima-Waini and Cuyuni-Mazaruni, and Brazil wraps the southwest and south. Suriname is to the east, across the Corentyne River from East Berbice-Corentyne.
Guyana's own numbers
Guyana numbers its regions 1 to 10, and the Numbered sheet uses the same numbers: 4 is Demerara-Mahaica, the region of Georgetown, the capital. Most names join the rivers that bound a region.
- Typed answers by number count in the quiz: Region 6 is right for East Berbice-Corentyne.

Ten, numbered 1 to 10 since 1980. Region 1 is Barima-Waini in the northwest and Region 10 is Upper Demerara-Berbice, inland from the coast.
Which region is Georgetown in?
Region 4, Demerara-Mahaica, on the Atlantic coast. It is the smallest region by area and the one with the most people.
Which is the largest region?
Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo, Region 9, in the south, ahead of Cuyuni-Mazaruni, Region 7, in the west.
Are Guyana's borders disputed?
Some borders on this map are disputed. The map follows Natural Earth, a public-domain map source, and does not take a side. Venezuela claims all land west of the Essequibo and Suriname a corner in the southeast; both are drawn with Guyana.
