How it works

This blank map of Peru shows its 24 departments and the Constitutional Province of Callao, the list school maps of Peru use. Switch Borders off and it prints as a plain Peru outline map.

Blank, numbered or named

The sheet opens blank. Choose Numbered to put a number on each of the 25 departments and Callao of Peru, or Named for their names, then press Print this map; the answer key prints on its own sheet.

Lima and Callao

The capital, Lima, is drawn inside the department of Lima. Callao, the port city beside it, is only about 147 square kilometres, so it carries a ring. Loreto, in the Amazon, is by far the largest department.

  • For a coast, mountains and jungle lesson, print Named and shade the departments by region: coast, Andes and Amazon.

Questions and answers

How many departments does Peru have?

Twenty-four, plus the Constitutional Province of Callao, which is not part of any department. The map numbers all 25.

Which is the largest department of Peru?

Loreto, in the northern Amazon, which covers more than a quarter of the country. Ucayali, to its south, is the second largest.

Where is Machu Picchu?

In the department of Cusco, in the Andes of southern Peru. The map prints departments, not places, so write it in yourself.
