How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01; names, ids and accepted spellings are Natural Earth's. Which countries are asked follows the list of United Nations member states, https://www.un.org/en/about-us/member-states, read 2026-10-01: 35 of the 39 shapes are member states and are the ones the page numbers. Not member states, drawn and never asked: Falkland Islands, French Guiana, Greenland, Puerto Rico. The drawing: Drawn for this site from Natural Earth 5.1.2, ne_50m_admin_0_countries_lakes (scale 1:50,000,000), https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/v5.1.2/geojson/ne_50m_admin_0_countries_lakes.geojson, downloaded 2026-09-19. Lambert azimuthal equal-area projection centred on 12°N 85°W. Outlines simplified; small islands are left out. 7 places are too small to draw at this scale and shown as a dot. How it works

This blank map of the Americas puts North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America on one sheet, from Canada to Argentina and Chile. Print it blank, numbered or named; 35 countries are in the answer key.

A blank map of North and South America, three ways

The sheet opens blank. Numbered gives each of the 35 countries a number and Named writes its name. Press Print this map; Print the answer key gives the names on a second sheet.

Sixteen small countries have rings

Canada, the United States and Brazil are the three largest shapes. Sixteen countries are too small to write on, so a line joins each to a ring: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Panama on the mainland, and twelve in the Caribbean, from the Bahamas to Trinidad and Tobago.

  • For the islands alone, print the blank map of the Caribbean, which draws them much larger.

Questions and answers

How many countries are in the Americas?

Thirty-five member states of the United Nations: Canada and the United States, Mexico and the seven countries of Central America, thirteen in the Caribbean and twelve in South America.

Why do Greenland and Puerto Rico have no number?

The map numbers member states of the United Nations. Greenland, Puerto Rico and French Guiana belong to Denmark, the United States and France, so they are drawn without a number.

Are the Falkland Islands on the map?

Some borders on this map are disputed. Disputed areas are shown but not asked. The Falkland Islands, administered by the United Kingdom and claimed by Argentina, are drawn without a number.

Can I print North America or South America alone?

Yes, from their own pages. The blank map of North and Central America and the blank map of South America draw each continent larger than this sheet can.

Is this a blank map of the Western Hemisphere?

The Western Hemisphere is the half of the Earth west of the prime meridian, and the name often means the Americas, so yes. Choose Named for a labeled map of the Western Hemisphere. The quiz is a South and North America map quiz.
