Which islands count as Leeward and which as Windward: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leeward_Islands and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windward_Islands, checked 2026-09-19 (Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago are usually counted with neither, which is why the groups here say "and Barbados" and "Trinidad and the ABC islands"). The drawing: Drawn for this site on 2026-10-05 from Natural Earth public domain map data, by a script that projects the data and draws nothing by hand: the islands and the mainland from Natural Earth 5.1.2, ne_10m_admin_0_countries (scale 1:10,000,000), downloaded 2026-09-19; two lakes from ne_10m_lakes; the two tints of the sea from Natural Earth 4.1.0 bathymetry, ne_10m_bathymetry_K_200 (the 200 metre depth line), https://github.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/tree/v5.1.2. Blank, numbered or named

The sheet opens blank. Choose Numbered to put a number on each of the 28 places of the Caribbean, or Named for their names, then press Print this map; the answer key prints on its own sheet.

A blank map of Caribbean islands, ring by ring

Most islands are too small to write on, so 21 of the 28 have a ring joined by a line, where the number or name goes. For a Caribbean map unlabeled but for the numbers, print Numbered and hand out the key later.

Questions and answers

How many countries are in the Caribbean?

Thirteen independent island countries, from Cuba and Jamaica to Saint Kitts and Nevis. The map adds 15 territories, such as Puerto Rico, Aruba and Martinique, which belong to other countries.

Is Puerto Rico a country?

No. Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States, so it is numbered here with the other territories, not with the 13 countries.

Which islands are split between two countries?

Hispaniola holds Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and Saint Martin is French in the north and Dutch, as Sint Maarten, in the south. The map draws each part separately.
