Press Print this worksheet for the numbered faces, with a line for each word. The switch beside the faces changes the sheet to Blank or Named.
Read the brows, the eyes and the mouth
Every face has the same head. Mostly the brows, the eyes and the mouth change, so those are the places to look: a mouth that curves up or down, brows that lift or pull together, eyes wide or half closed.
Check the answers
Print the answer key lists each word beside its number. Quiz yourself on this worksheet lights one face at a time and offers four words.
- Scared and surprised both have wide eyes. Look at the mouth: surprised is a round O.
Questions and answers
Which emotions are on the worksheet?
Eight: happy, sad, angry, scared, surprised, disgusted, tired and worried. The first six are the ones often called the six basic emotions.
What are the six basic emotions?
Happiness, sadness, anger, fear, surprise and disgust. On this sheet they are written the way a child says them: happy, sad, angry, scared, surprised and disgusted.
How can you tell a sad face from a worried face?
On both, the brows lift in the middle. The sad mouth curves down and the eyes look down. The worried mouth is a wavy line and the eyes look to one side.
Does the quiz take other words, such as afraid or mad?
Yes, when you type the answer. Afraid and frightened count for scared, mad for angry, sleepy for tired and anxious for worried.
