How this list was compiled: Every French word, its gender, its plural and its meaning was read on 2026-10-15 in two dictionaries. First the French-English dictionary of WordReference (https://www.wordreference.com/fren/ followed by the word): tête, cheveu (with cheveux, masculine plural, for the hair of the head), œil (plural yeux), oreille, nez (plural nez), bouche, cou, épaule, poitrine, torse, bras (plural bras), coude, poignet, main, doigt, ventre, estomac, jambe, genou (plural genoux), cheville, pied, orteil (glossed doigt de pied), abdomen (glossed ventre), thorax, corps and partie; and its English-French side (https://www.wordreference.com/enfr/ followed by the word) for belly (ventre) and toe (doigt de pied). Second the Larousse dictionary of French (https://www.larousse.fr/dictionnaires/francais/ followed by the word): the same 26 entries, each with its gender, with the plurals yeux and genoux in the headword, les parties du corps as the example under partie, thorax and torse as synonyms of poitrine, ventre as a synonym of abdomen, and doigts de pied explained as orteils under doigt. The wording of every line is our own. Licence: own work
The drawing: The site's own drawing of 2026-09-20, made for label-the-body-parts, used here unchanged. Own work: nothing was traced or copied. Licence: own work
How it works
Twenty labeled body parts in French on one drawing of a child. Every word is written with le, la, l' or les, because a French noun is learned with its gender.

Plurals that take x
Le cheveu becomes les cheveux and le genou les genoux, with an x; l'œil becomes les yeux, a different word. Le bras and le nez do not change: les bras, les nez.
Words that get mixed up
Le cou is the neck, le coude the elbow. La jambe is the leg, le pied only the foot. Le doigt is a finger; a toe is un orteil.
L' hides the gender: l'œil is masculine, l'oreille and l'épaule are feminine.
As a French body parts quiz the drawing hides its words and asks them in a new order every time.
It prints blank, to label French body parts by hand, or with its words, as a labelled diagram of parts of the body in French.
