How this list was compiled: The 12 counties of Albania, today's list. The count and every name were read on 2026-10-01 on the regions page of Albania's Institute of Statistics (https://www.instat.gov.al/en/themes/general-and-regional-statistics/regions/), in ISO 3166-2:AL as Wikipedia prints it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:AL) and at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counties_of_Albania. The county of the capital is labeled Tirana, as Wikipedia's list has it; Tiranë, the spelling of the Institute and of the ISO list, is accepted. The lines were tested the same day against the boundary data: the seats of all 61 municipalities fall in the county that Wikipedia's list files them under. Kosovo is drawn as the map source draws it and is not asked. The lakes on the borders are not drawn. Outlines: Natural Earth 5.1.2, credited under the drawing. Start at the corners: Shkodër in the northwest, Kukës in the northeast, Korçë in the southeast and Vlorë in the southwest.
