Five regions until the end of 2026
North Denmark, Central Denmark and Southern Denmark lie on Jutland, the peninsula in the west, and Southern Denmark also takes in Funen, the large island beside it. Zealand and the Capital Region, with Copenhagen, lie on the islands farther east, and Bornholm belongs to the Capital Region. On 1 January 2027 Zealand and the Capital Region are due to merge into one region, Eastern Denmark.
- Typed answers in Danish count: Hovedstaden, Sjælland, Syddanmark, Midtjylland and Nordjylland are right in the quiz.
Questions and answers
How many regions does Denmark have?
Five today: the Capital Region, Zealand, Southern Denmark, Central Denmark and North Denmark. From 1 January 2027 the Capital Region and Zealand are due to become one region, Eastern Denmark, which leaves four.
Where is Bornholm on the map?
Far to the east, alone in the Baltic Sea, south of Sweden. It is part of the Capital Region, so it has no number of its own.
Which seas are around Denmark?
The North Sea to the west, the Skagerrak to the north, the Kattegat between Jutland and Sweden, and the Baltic Sea to the east, around Bornholm. All four are numbered on the sheet.
Are Greenland and the Faroe Islands on the map?
No. This sheet shows Denmark itself. Greenland has an outline map of its own on this site.
Can I print Denmark without the region lines?
Yes. Switch Borders off and the sheet prints the plain outline of the country.
