How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01; ids, points and accepted spellings are Natural Earth's; six points (Cabañas, Chalatenango, Cuscatlán, La Libertad, La Paz, San Salvador) were moved inside their own shapes so that every name has room on the Named sheet. The count of 14 departments and every name were checked on 2026-10-01 against the 2024 census tables of the Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador (https://censo2024.bcr.gob.sv/wp-content/uploads/tablas-geoportal/2025/TAB_POB_1.pdf, read in the copy kept at web.archive.org: departments 01 to 14, 44 municipalities, 262 districts) and against ISO 3166-2:SV as printed at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:SV, with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Departments_of_El_Salvador as the second text; all three agree with the points file.
