How it works
This worksheet is for labeling the parts of a tricycle: write a name on the line for each number. Numbers 1 to 9 are on a child's tricycle seen from the side; 10 is on the view from behind.

Tricycle word bank
In alphabetical order, to copy onto the board: fender, fork, frame, front wheel, grips, handlebars, pedals, rear axle, rear wheels, seat.
Labeling the parts of a tricycle handle bar
Two numbers are on the handle bar. 1 ends on the bar itself (handlebars), 8 on the dark sleeve at its end (grips). The view from behind has no number there; it shows the bar from end to end, with a grip on each. Elsewhere, 7 is the straight tube down to the middle of the big wheel (fork) and 6 the long curved tube under the seat (frame). 10 is the bar joining the two small wheels (rear axle).
- When marking, handle bar is right on line 1, hand grips on line 8, back wheels on line 5 and axle on line 10.
- Rear wheels takes one line: the side view shows one of the pair, the view from behind shows both.
Questions and answers
What is a delta tricycle?
A tricycle with one front wheel and two rear wheels, like the one on this worksheet. A tadpole tricycle is the other way round, with two wheels in front and one behind.
What is a child's tricycle made of?
The frame is metal, plastic or wood. The wheels are not always tires filled with air: some are solid rubber or hollow plastic, which soak up fewer bumps but cannot get a puncture.
Is a trike the same as a tricycle?
Yes. Trike is a short form of tricycle. Both words mean a vehicle with three wheels.
Does the tricycle worksheet have an answer key?
Yes. The key prints both drawings with their numbers and lists the ten names in order, handlebars first and rear axle last.
