How it works
This Spanish labeled plant cell shows 22 parts on one drawing, from la pared celular on the outside to la vacuola central in the middle. Each name carries el, la or los, because that is how its gender is learned.

Eight parts for a simple cell
For a simple diagram of a cell in Spanish, start with eight names: la pared celular, la membrana plasmática, el citoplasma, el núcleo, la vacuola central, el cloroplasto, la mitocondria and los ribosomas.
Names with a second name
La membrana plasmática is also la membrana celular. La membrana nuclear is also la envoltura nuclear, la lámina media is la laminilla media, and el aparato de Golgi is el cuerpo de Golgi. Each second name counts as a typed answer.
El citoplasma, el ribosoma and el peroxisoma are masculine although they end in a.
El nucléolo is not el núcleo: the nucleolus is a round body inside the nucleus.
An organelle is un orgánulo; el organelo is a second word for it.
Questions and answers
How do you say plant cell in Spanish?
La célula vegetal. Célula is a feminine noun, so the plural is las células vegetales. An animal cell is la célula animal. WordReference lists both.
How do you say cell wall in Spanish?
La pared celular. La pared is a wall and celular means of the cell. Celular keeps one form for masculine and feminine nouns, as in el núcleo celular.
Is mitocondria masculine or feminine in Spanish?
Feminine: la mitocondria, las mitocondrias. WordReference and SpanishDict both mark it as a feminine noun. One is a mitochondrion in English, and several are mitochondria.
Where were the Spanish names checked?
In WordReference, SpanishDict and the Cambridge Spanish-English dictionary. Names those dictionaries lack were read in the Spanish genome glossary of the U.S. National Human Genome Research Institute and in the University of Vigo's atlas of plant and animal histology.
