How this list was compiled: Every label was read again on 2026-09-30 in two dictionaries: the Spanish-English dictionary of WordReference (https://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen= followed by the word) and SpanishDict (https://www.spanishdict.com/translate/ followed by the word). Both give the gender and the house meaning of all 26 labels, and both were read for every other word the quiz accepts: tejado, muro, cochera, pasto, grama, valla, vereda, banqueta, desván, buhardilla, habitación, cuarto, recámara, pieza, corredor, cuarto de baño, despacho, sala de estar, salón, living, piso and lavandería. The countries of each regional word: Diccionario de americanismos of the Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española, 2010, read live on 2026-09-30 (https://www.asale.org/damer/ followed by the word): banqueta, grama, pasto, recámara, vereda; WordReference for la pieza and el living. The dictionary of the Real Academia Española refuses automated reading (HTTP 403); Internet Archive copies of its entries garaje, pasillo, patio and puerta were read on 2026-09-30 (https://web.archive.org/web/2025/https://dle.rae.es/ followed by the word) for the origin of those words. An earlier pass on 2026-09-19 read the Spanish sections of the English Wiktionary and the glossary "Describe your house" of the University of Texas at Austin, COERLL (https://www.laits.utexas.edu/spe/adv07.html). How it works

A part of the house lights up, and you pick its Spanish word, such as la cocina, from four. The drawing carries 26 words: 13 on the front of the house and 13 on a cut-away of the rooms.

How a round goes

A part of the house lights up and you pick its word, with its article, from four: el sótano, say. A wrong pick shows the right word.

Outside first, then the rooms

The first round is the house from the street, from el techo down to la acera. The second opens it like a dollhouse, from el ático to el sótano.

Type the Spanish word instead

In More options, pick Type it. Accents are optional, so jardin passes, and regional words such as la recámara count. Find it runs the other way: a word is given and you tap or click that part of the house. The same menu switches every word to English.

  • Learn every noun with its article: la pared is feminine and el césped masculine, and both end in d.
  • Look for the verb inside the room: el comedor is built on comer, to eat, and el lavadero on lavar, to wash.
  • El piso catches English speakers: it is the floor, a story of a building and, in Spain, an apartment.

Questions and answers

What are the parts of a house in Spanish?

Outside: el techo (roof), la chimenea (chimney), la ventana (window), la puerta (door), la pared (wall) and el garaje (garage). Inside: la cocina (kitchen), la sala (living room), el comedor (dining room), el dormitorio (bedroom), el baño (bathroom) and el sótano (basement).

Is a bedroom el dormitorio, la habitación, el cuarto or la recámara?

All four are correct, and the quiz accepts each. La habitación and el cuarto mean a room in general and are also used for the bedroom. La recámara is the bedroom in Mexico.

Why does el techo mean both roof and ceiling?

Spanish uses one word for the cover of a house, seen from outside or from inside. La chimenea works the same way: it is the chimney on the roof and the fireplace below. So the drawing has no separate ring for either.

Can I print the house as a Spanish worksheet?

Yes. Print blank gives both views with numbered rings and numbered lines to write on. The other print button gives the same sheet with the Spanish words filled in.

Where were the Spanish words checked?

Every word, its gender and its meaning were read in two dictionaries, WordReference and SpanishDict. The countries of regional words such as la banqueta come from the Diccionario de americanismos of the Association of Spanish Language Academies.
