How it works
This blank Lebanon map opens on the plain outline of the country. Switch Borders on for the six governorates Lebanon had before three more were split off; today it has nine.

Outline first
The sheet opens with nothing inside the outline, so it prints as a sheet to draw towns, mountains or today’s nine governorates on.
Why three governorates have numbers
The borders are those of six governorates. Beirut, Nabatieh and South are unchanged today, and Numbered and Named label those three. North has since lost Akkar, Beqaa has lost Baalbek-Hermel and Mount Lebanon has lost Keserwan-Jbeil, so those older shapes stay unlabeled.
- The Mediterranean Sea lies west of Lebanon. Have students write its name beside the coast.
Questions and answers
How many governorates does Lebanon have?
Nine: Akkar, Baalbek-Hermel, Beirut, Beqaa, Keserwan-Jbeil, Mount Lebanon, Nabatieh, North and South. The ninth, Keserwan-Jbeil, dates from a law of 2017, and some lists still show eight. This map draws six older shapes and numbers Beirut, Nabatieh and South.
Can I print Lebanon as a plain outline?
Yes. The sheet opens that way, with nothing inside the outline of the country.
Are the borders on this map disputed?
Some borders on this map are disputed. The map follows Natural Earth, a public-domain map source, and does not take a side. In the southeast it leaves the Shebaa Farms, a strip that Lebanon claims and Israel occupies, outside Lebanon’s outline.
Which countries border Lebanon?
Syria on the north and east, Israel on the south. The Mediterranean Sea is to the west. On this map the land around Lebanon is drawn plain, without lines or names.
