Largest and smallest
Ma’an in the south and Mafraq in the northeast are the two largest governorates and fill most of the map. Jerash and Ajloun, side by side in the northwest, are the two smallest. Amman, the capital, lies in the governorate of the same name. The gap in the western edge is the Dead Sea.

Questions and answers
How many governorates does Jordan have?
Twelve: Ajloun, Amman, Aqaba, Balqa, Irbid, Jerash, Karak, Ma’an, Madaba, Mafraq, Tafilah and Zarqa. All twelve are drawn and numbered on this map.
Which is the largest governorate of Jordan?
Ma’an, in the south, followed by Mafraq in the northeast. Jerash is the smallest, and Ajloun, next to it, is only a little larger.
Why are there no border lines around Jordan?
The land around Jordan is drawn as one plain area, without lines or names. Some borders west of the Jordan River are disputed, and this sheet draws none of them. Jordan’s own outline follows Natural Earth, a public-domain map source.
Can I print Jordan without the governorate lines?
Yes. Switch Borders off and the sheet prints the plain outline of Jordan.
