How this list was compiled: Items made on 2026-10-01; ids and points are the generator's, but for the two points and the ring named below. The list is today's: 17 departments and the capital district of Asunción, 18 shapes. Checked on 2026-10-01 against the ISO 3166-2:PY list as printed at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:PY (one capital and 17 departments; every name agrees with the boundary file) and against https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Departments_of_Paraguay (the same 18, the two unofficial regions, the largest and smallest departments). The home page of the national statistics institute, https://www.ine.gov.py/, was read the same day and carries no list of departments. Moved by hand so that every name of the Named sheet has room: the points of Cordillera and Alto Paraná inside their shapes, and the ring of Asunción from (519, 709.2) to (490, 757), farther out across the border and lower, so that its leader line comes down to the name steeply and does not run through it, and so that the ring lies wholly below the view of the Western Region and is not cut by that view's edge in the quiz. Two regions

Three large departments fill the west, the region called the Chaco: Boquerón, Alto Paraguay and Presidente Hayes. The other fourteen and Asunción make up the Eastern Region. Asunción is so small that its number stands in a ring beside it.

  • Start with the three big departments of the Chaco, then find Asunción where the west meets the east.
