Blank, numbered or named
The sheet opens blank, with the lines between the provinces drawn. Choose Numbered or Named to put a number or a name on all 77 shapes, then press Print this map. The answer key prints on its own sheet. Rivers adds two lines: the Chao Phraya, from Nakhon Sawan south to the gulf, and the Mekong, on the border with Laos.
Lines for the smallest provinces
Seven provinces are too small to write on: Phuket in the south and six in the middle of the map, most of them around Bangkok. A short line leads out from each one, and its number or name stands at the end of the line. On the blank sheet, students write there.
- Chon Buri and Buri Ram are written as two words here; the joined forms Chonburi and Buriram also count as right answers in the quiz.
Questions and answers
How many provinces does Thailand have?
Seventy-six, plus Bangkok, the capital, which is a special administrative area. The map numbers all 77. The newest province is Bueng Kan, in the northeast, split off from Nong Khai in 2011.
Which countries border Thailand?
Myanmar to the west and northwest, Laos to the east and northeast, Cambodia to the southeast and Malaysia to the south. They are drawn as plain land around the outline, without names.
Is there an outline map of Thailand without provinces?
Not on this sheet, which always draws the province lines. For Thailand as one plain shape among its neighbors, print the blank map of Southeast Asia.
Which seas are on the map?
The Gulf of Thailand, east of the long southern peninsula, and the Andaman Sea, west of it. Both are open water on the sheet, without names.
Are any borders on this map disputed?
Some borders on this map are disputed. The map follows Natural Earth, a public-domain map source, and does not take a side. Cambodia and Thailand disagree over certain areas of their border.
