Questions and answers

Which countries are on the Iberian Peninsula?

Spain and Portugal make up almost all of it. Andorra, Gibraltar and a sliver of France are on the peninsula too.

What separates the Iberian Peninsula from the rest of Europe?

The Pyrenees, a mountain range on the France–Spain border. Andorra lies among them.

What separates Spain from Africa?

The Strait of Gibraltar, a narrow strait that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. Morocco is the land on its southern side.

Are the Balearic Islands part of Spain?

Yes. They are a group of islands in the western Mediterranean Sea and one of the autonomous communities of Spain. On this map they have a number of their own.

Is Gibraltar on the map?

Gibraltar, a British Overseas Territory at the southern tip of the peninsula, is too small to show here and has no number. Some borders on this map are disputed. The map follows Natural Earth, a public-domain map source, and does not take a side.
