How it works

This Asia physical features map labels the continent's big landforms, waters and rivers with no borders, from the Urals to Kamchatka and from Siberia to the Indian Ocean. Read the names, then quiz yourself; three regions get a closer round.

Read the full guide

A map of Asia with rivers and mountains, in six rounds

Three rounds use the whole continent: landforms, then oceans, seas and lakes, then nine great rivers from the Indus to the Amur. Three more zoom in on Siberia and its seas, Central Asia, and Southwest Asia; the last two make a southwest and central Asia physical map. Press Quiz me for an Asia physical map quiz.

South, East and Southeast Asia up close

For a south and southeast Asia physical map, the big features of both are here: the Himalayas, the Deccan Plateau, the Ganges, the Mekong. Smaller ones, such as the Thar Desert, the Korean Peninsula and Borneo, are drawn but asked on closer maps, listed with every physical map quiz.

  • The Himalayas lie on the southern edge of the Tibetan Plateau: for the plateau, tap north of the range.
  • Three rivers of Siberia flow to the Arctic Ocean: the Ob in the west, the Yenisey, the Lena in the east.
  • Lake Baikal, Lake Balkhash, the Aral Sea, the Ob, the Tigris and the Euphrates are answered at a ring.

Questions and answers

What are the major physical features of Asia?

The Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau, Siberia, the Gobi Desert, the Arabian and Indochina peninsulas, the Deccan Plateau and the Ural Mountains. Rivers: the Yangtze, Yellow, Ganges, Indus and Mekong. Waters: the Pacific and Indian oceans, the Caspian Sea and Lake Baikal.

Is this an Asia physical map labeled, or an outline to fill in?

Both. It opens labeled: tap a feature for its name and one fact. For an Asia physical map outline on paper, the blank print numbers every feature and leaves a line for each name.

Which rivers are on this map of major rivers in Asia?

Nine in the great rivers round: Yangtze, Yellow, Ganges, Indus, Mekong, Ob, Yenisey, Lena and Amur. The Irtysh, Amu Darya and Syr Darya are in the Central Asia round, and the Tigris and Euphrates in Southwest Asia.

Where is an easy physical map of Asia to start with?

The first round: nine big landforms on the whole continent, such as the Himalayas, Siberia and Arabia.

Why does the map say Persian Gulf and Sea of Japan?

The drawing takes its names from Natural Earth, its map data. Arab governments call the Persian Gulf the Arabian Gulf, and South Korea supports East Sea for the Sea of Japan. The page takes no side; both count as typed answers.
